- The application deadline for CMS CAHPS for MIPS survey vendors is fast approaching. Interested vendors may apply to be a CAHPS for MIPS survey administrator by April 30, 2017.
The CAHPS for MIPS survey may only be administered by those vendors CMS approves, according to the agency. Interested vendors must first review the baseline requirements from CMS, and then submit an application to the agency for review. The agency will review applications as they are received, and will publicly post approved survey vendors once the application process closes.
If selected, survey vendors and all key staff must undergo training and pass an assessment before receiving full CMS-accreditation.
Under the Quality Payment Program, CAHPS for MIPS would count as an optional measure for groups participating in MIPS. It would count as a patient experience measure, which is a part of the quality performance category.
The CAHPS for MIPS survey could also count as points under the improvement activities performance category for eligible clinicians.
Clinicians are currently in the throes of the first Quality Payment Program reporting period, which began on January 1 and will end on December 31, 2017.
